Dharamshala, November 12, 2018: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while presiding over the closing ceremony of the 50th Himachal Pradesh Police Sports Competition in Dharamshala today said , "Soon 1,000 police jawans would be recruited in the State Police Department so that the department's work could be done smoothly. State government will also setup a Police Housing Corporation in the state. 50 crore rupees will be provided for this.”

The Chief Minister said that there are many challenges in the police working. He said that the geography of the state is difficult and the police system in the state is quite challenging as compared to other states. He said that the state is in danger of many natural calamities and the police force always needs to be alert to deal with these natural challenges. He said, “Such sporting events plays important role in keeping the police personas physically fit.”

Jai Ram Thakur said that the state government is committed to ensure the welfare of the police force in the state. He said that the state police is known for his dedication, hard work, honesty and commitment. He said that the State Government decided to designate the services of the Head Constables who have completed more than 32 years in Police Department shall be upgraded to Honorary Assistant Sub-Inspector. He said , “ it will benefit hundreds of police personnel in the state.”

The Chief Minister said that the Central Government has approved a NDRF battalion for Himachal to deal with natural disasters in the state. He said that the state government will ensure better up-lift for the police constable in the state.

Jai Ram Thakur gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions organized on this occasion. Bhanu Prakash and Dinesh Kumar were declared the best athletes. The Southern Range won the title of Best Team in Sports and Athletics.

The Chief Minister also released the Souvenir of Police Sports Meet on this occasion.
