‘KAVITA KATHA KARVAN’ HELD TRLINGUAL POETIC SESSION, TOUCHES CONTEMPORARY SOCIAL ISSUES
POETS MUST STRIVE TO END PREVAILING SOCIAL VICES: PANCHHI Ludhiana, April 18, 2019: A poetry session was organized by the literary body Kavita Katha Karvan at the local Punjabi Bhavan, wherein well-known poets Sardar Panchhi, Dr Hari Singh Jachak (Panthak poet), Prof Ravinder Bhathal, Sagar Sialkoti, Trailochjan Lochi, Sangeeta Bhandari, Surjit Judge, Satish Gulati, Tarsem Noor, Joti Bajaj, Vibha Kumriya, Deep Ludhianvi, Rajinder Rajan, Jatinder Kaur Sandhu, Prof Gurvinder Kaur, Harbans Malwa, Baby Sarishti Sharma, Gursimar Singh Virdi, Komal Deep Kaur Ehsaas were among those who enthralled the audience with their latest compositions on Vaisakhi, Creation of Khalsa, Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and the contemporary social concerns including the plight of farmers. Their poems also focused on propagating the message of righteous living and nurturing the social values. Veteran Urdu poet Sardar Panchhi emphasized that if poets and writers join their efforts, they can put the prevailing social vices to an end. The special feature of the event was that it was started with rendition of poems by juvenile poets Srishti Sharma and Harsimar Singh Virdi. The eminent poets Sardar Panchhi, Dr Hari Singh Jachak, Trailochjan Lochi, Sangeeta Bhandari, Surjit Judge, Sangeeta Bhandari and Jaspreet Kaur ‘Falak’ (the President of Kavita Katha Karvan) shared the Presidium. Earlier, Prof ‘Falak’ welcomed the participating poets and poetesses with presentation of mementoes. She said that the tradition of holding trilingual (Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu) poetic sessions will continue to provide platform to emerging poets. The programme was anchored by Dharmender Shahid Khanna who impregnated his sentences with apt verses and beautiful poetic anecdotes.
