‘KAVITA KATHA KARVAN’ HELD WOMEN POETIC SESSION, CONFERRED MATA GUJARI AWARD ON BIBI HARBANS KAUR
LUDHIANA, March 13, 2019: A poetry session was organized by the literary body Kavita Katha Karvan last evening at the local Punjabi Bhavan, wherein well-known poetesses Dr Davinder Dilroop, Benu Satish Kant, Parvin Sethi, Jaspreet Kaur, Chhaya Sharma, Iradeep, Komaldeep, Maninder Kaur Mann, Rashmi Asthana Ritu Mahajan, Neelam were among those who enthralled the audience with their latest compositions on women-centric themes. The women students from SCD Government College, Pratap College of Education, Master Tara Singh College for Women, and Sat Pal Mittal School, PAU Govt Sr Sec School, Doon Oxford School, Ludhiana also read out their compositions. Besides these, eminent city based litterateurs including Satish Gulati, Lalit Beri, Dr Surinder Khanna, Danish Bharti, Sagar Sialkoti, Manoj Preet, Jagjit Kaafir, Ravinder Ravi, Kulwinder Kanwal, also graced the occasion and relished the renditions. On this occasion four elderly women were honored. Bibi Harbans Kaur was conferred with ‘Mata Gujari Award’ for her contribution toward propagating the message of righteous living and nurturing the family values. Appreciating the tradition set by ‘Kavita Katha Karvan’ in paying respects to the elderly women on International Women Day, Chief Guest Mamta Ashoo said that this was the strongly felt need of the hour in the contemporary society, adding that younger generations must learn the importance of respecting their elders and find time to listen to them and spend quality time with them. Dr Babita Arora was the guest of honour. The Chairperson of Kavita Katha Karvan, Prof Jaspreet Kaur Falak thanked all poets and participants and said that the tradition of honoring the elderly women on the occasion of celebrating International Women Day will continue.
