CHANDIGARH, MAY 22, 2017: The Punjab government has earmarked Rs.256.74 crore for providing old age pension and other financial assistances to the beneficiaries for the financial year 2017-18.

It was disclosed by Mrs. Razia Sultana, Social Security and Women & Child Development Minister, Punjab. She said that old age pension to the tune of Rs.500 per month has already been given to the beneficiaries till October, 2016. She said that instructions to all the District Social Security Officers have been passed to online the bills of old age pension for the month of November and December 2016.

The Minister further said that for total 12,81,834 beneficiaries under old pension, budget of R.s17191.82 has been earmarked. Similarly, budgetary provision of Rs.4672.96 lakh has been earmarked for 3,47,255 widows and destitute women and for 1,23,037 dependent children, financial assistance of Rs.1695.89 lakh and budgetary provision of Rs.2113,37 lakh has been made for providing financial assistance to 1,55,948 disabled persons.
