FLOOD CONTROL ARRANEGMENTS- DC DIRECTS OFFICIALS TO COMPLETE CLEANLINESS AND REPAIR WORKS OF DRAINS IN WEEK

SDM’S AND SENIOR OFFICIALS TO MONITOR ARRANGEMENTS PERSONALLY
Ludhiana, June 29, 2017: Ahead of monsoon season, Deputy Commissioner Mr.Pardeep Kumar Agrawal has issued directions to the drainage department to complete the cleanliness and repair works of drains in a week. Sub Divisional Magistrates of concerned area and senior officials of department will personally moniteering of all works.
While reviewing the ongoing works, Mr.Agrawal said that the level of rainfall is likely to increase this year as compare to last year. Due to this, it is a dire need to give more emphasis on cleanliness and repair of drains before the arrival of monsoon. Flood like situation may occur when overflow water Dams release in drains and rivers. That is why it is urgent to complete the works soon.
Mr.Rupinderpal Singh Bhatthal, Executive Engineer Drainage Department informed that rupees around 1.48 crore spent on cleanliness and repair of various drains in district Ludhiana. Works are going on full swing on eight points where waterlogging may occurs. Studs are being made and repaired on Issapur, Khaira Bet, Mannewala and Madhepur complexes.
Moreover, clearing of Sarkanda, Weed, Jala, Booti and Silt from Koom, Raipur, Maini Chamkaur Machhiwara upper and Rachhin drains is also going on. Around 60 percent of work has been completed so far and remaining will be done in a week. Senior officials and SDO’s concerned are moniteering the all works personally, he added.
