EXPOSURE VISIT OF GURSEWA INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS TO KVK SBS NAGAR

Ludhiana, July 7, 2017: Gursewa Institute of Science & Technology which deals in nursing and agricultural courses affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, organized an exposure visit to Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, on 5th July, 2017 under the supervision of Dr.J.S.Marok, Deputy Director (Trg.). An introductory session regarding KVK’s mandate and different activities of KVK were discussed by Dr.Gurinder Singh, Demonstrator (Animal Science). A Presentation on role of balanced diet for college going students and quiz session on different nutrients important for growth was also discussed by Dr.Shikha Bathla, Assistant Professor (Home Science). Mrs Renu Bala, Demonstrator (Home Science) explained the importance of self employment through food preservation, decorative articles, fabric designing etc. with discussion of success stories in Home Science lab. During Field Visit at KVK Farm, scope and prospectus of protected cultivation was discussed by Dr Navjot Singh Brar, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science). Procedure and importance of soil testing for increasing farm productivity was explained by Dr Manpreet Jaidka Assistant Professor, (Agronomy). Different types of viral and bacterial diseases affecting poultry birds which have zoonotic importance were explained by Dr. Tejbeer Singh, Assistant Professor (Animal Nutrition). Dr. Avtar Singh (Principal) emphasized that for generating awareness among students, Exposure visit of college going students at KVK Farm, is an excellent platform to provide first hand experience to the students. Dr. J.S. Marok, Deputy Director (Trg.) thanked all students and faculty member for making the exposure visit effective and informative.
