Ludhiana, August 4, 2015: Birds constitute an important aspect of our natural world. Many species have settled close to human habitations and prospered by showing resources and trash of their human neighbors. But due to severe anthropogenic pressure across the world like urbanization, loss of habitat and pollution several species of birds have been increasingly under threat. So to combat this critical situation, zoological society of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana have made efforts by making Bird Conservation Club constituting Ms. Simarjot Kaur of (B.Sc. III Medical) as President, Ms. Simarpreet of (B.Sc. II Medical) as Vice President and 50 members from the different sections of B.sc. I, II, III (Medical). A member of the club has installed colorful wooden nest boxes at different sites of the college under the guidance of Mrs. Devinder Pal Kaur and all the faculty members of the Zoology Department. Proper care of the nests will be taken by the club members by observing their activities during breeding period, the main objective of this society is to accelerate and conserve bird population.
The Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Mukti Gill appreciated the efforts made by Zoology Society. She encouraged the students to actively participate in the conservation drive.
