WORMS and insects found in mid-day meal supply at Amrikhas village

Ferozepur, July 18, 2013:  An incident of recovery of insects and worms in mid-day meal have come to notice in village Amrikhas and .this is the second incident in the last week of noticing of worms and insects in the supply of mid-day meal and there was strong protest from school children, parents and school managements against the contractors.

As per the sources, the cook while distributing the meal to the children noticed that in the cooked pulse, worms and insects were noticed apart from supply of dry and over-baked chapattis and on this the supply was stopped and the matter was brought to the notice of school management and parents. The chapattis cooked were giving a foul smell.  The parents have warned to the mid-day meal suppliers that in case in future any such incident is noticed, they will be directly responsible for the same.

l, Teja Singh, Surinder Singh, Thakur Suraj Parkash and others informed that the contactors of mid-day meal suppliers are playing with the health of the children by supplying the sub-standard meal.

The further said, the authorities should cancel the present contract and ensure the supply of hygienic food to the children. On the other hand, the mid-day meal suppliers could not be contacted to know their version about the sub-standard supplies.
