Ludhiana, December 1, 2016: College of Nursing, Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana observed World AIDS Day on 1st December, 2016 near Indian Oil Petrol Pump, Transport Nagar, Ludhiana. Community Health nursing department Conducted Programme to create awareness among the public. Community Health nursing students displayed educational posters and Imparted Health Education through role play. The students gave information to the public regarding HIV/AIDS, its meaning, how it spreads and what are the preventive measures and its testing in Integrated Counselling and Testing Center (ICTC) CMC Centre. The Paediatric Nursing Department also celebrated in the Paediatric Ward of CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana. The Children printed their painted hands on posters to mark the theme “Hands up for HIV/AIDS Prevention” of World AIDS Day.
Special talks were given to patients and parents regarding children with HIV infection. Information was also given to parents on Parent to Child Transmission (PPTCT). Associate Prof. Mrs. Prem Lata Prakash and Asst. Prof. Mrs. Richa Justin Hans encouraged that we must not have feeling of stigma and discrimination with the people living with HIV.
The hospitalized children gave their hand impressions on a poster under the slogan of Working Together against HIV. Program was highly supported by Dr. Monika and Dr. Shweta of Peadiatrics Medicine Department.
