Ludhiana, february 17, 2017: CICU has been organising various programs for the benefit of the industry and trade sectors of Punjab. Skill Up-gradation of the Industrial employees/workers is one of the key agenda under the “Make in India” initiative by the Government & facilitated by Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings. CICU has recognized its responsibility in this regards and organised a Workshop On Press Tools Design & Development at CICU Complex, Focal Point Ludhiana.
Sh.Avtar Singh, President CICU in his welcome address said that there is a dire need for the up-gradation of the industry in terms of skills especially in Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, where things are still handled on traditional concepts & mismatch with today’s competitive scenario. For Global Competition, learning latest and innovative skills has become very important and skill development plays a vital role in its up-gradation. There is a direct co-relation between skill up-gradation of employees and performance of the SMEs. He further said the Design Tools has a vital role to play in driving the innovation and cost reduction needed to create a commercially viable industry. By proposing new solutions, and optimizing existing ones, such tools help find the best path forward for the industries.
Sh.Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary, CICU in his concluding remarks said that due to globalization of the Indian economy, MSME Sector is facing new challenges. This workshop will make valuable contribution for cost reduction, improving production and quality to compete globally. Sh. Ahuja was hopeful that knowledge shared in this workshop, if implemented practically and effectively by the participants will definitely improve the productivity, quality, reduce costs and accidents in their respective industries.
More than 50 participants including of Tool designers, tool makers, project developer, consultants working with design tools, unit heads, production, quality and maintenance personals attended this workshop. The interactive and thought provoking program was conducted by Mr. D. Ranjan, BE Mechanical (IIT-Roorkee), Post Graduation in Tool Design & Manufacturing having more than 34 years experience. He is having 3 years experience at Tool Room and Training centre (An Indo-Danish Project), Delhi, 10 years experience at Central Tool Room (An Indo-German Project) Ludhiana and 21 years experience at Kangaro Industries Ludhiana as Head Development Centre for product design to product delivery. He enlightened the participant with basic design concept for blanking & progressive tools especially in the area of sheet metal, load calculation and its impact on tool design, press working operations, manufacturing precautions and tips for longer tool life.
The workshop was highly appreciated by the participants.
