WHEAT PROCUREMENT: 49, 57,396 MT Wheat Procured In Punjab

Chandigarh, April 28, 2015:  An official spokesman of the Punjab government said that 49, 57,396lakh MT of wheat had been procured in the state till last evening. The government agencies procured 48, 33,774 lakh MT for central pool. The private traders procured 1, 02,899 MT of wheat.

Giving the details of agency wise procurement, he said that PUNGRAIN procured 9, 30,370 MT (18.8%) whereas MARKFED procured maximum out of the agencies 10,04,576 MT (20.3%) PUNSUP procured 9, 58,543 MT (19.3%) and PSWC 58, 6,092 MT (11.8%). The Central government agency FCI has procured 85, 4,149 MT (17.2%) of wheat for the central pool.

Meanwhile, according to the spokesperson of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, detailed guidelines to execute smooth and hassle free procurement operations in the state have already been issued to the concerned. Necessary arrangements have also been made in all the 1810 purchase centres of Punjab. An appeal was also made to the commission agents to submit their bills immediately after the purchase so that the payments could also be made accordingly.
