Reacting over RBI vision document 2018 –“Payment and Settlement Systems in India: Vision-2018”, Dilip Asbe, Chief Operating Officer, National Payments Corporation of India, has said, “We welcome the vision 2018 document for Payment and Settlement Systems in India by RBI. It focuses on ensuring that access to mobile banking service is seamlessly provided which will drive payments in the future. We are working towards rolling out Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in July and then Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) which will be supporting RBI’s vision. Our products like RuPay cards, Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) etc. are being offered with an objective towards achieving a ‘less-cash’ society. Currently, several banks are testing UPI under Closed User Group out of which at least 15 banks will go live. The on-boarding and certification process is on with the potential Bharat Bill Payment Operating Units (BBPOUs) who have received in-principle approval from RBI. The vision document will help us to touch every Indian with one or other payment services.”
