Vigilance nabs ASI accepting bribe of Rs.10,000

Chandigarh, June 19, 2014: The Vigilance Bureau, Punjab (VB) has caught an ASI red-handed with the bribe money of Rs.10,000.
Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the complainant Kulwant Singh of Village Bhalwan, Tehsil Dhuri (Sangrur) has alleged that ASI Sherwinder Singh, In-charge, Police Post, Bhalwan was demanding bribe of Rs.10,000 for getting a case settled with his brother-in-law through mutual compromise.
Acting on the tip of complainant, a trap was laid by the team of Vigilance Bureau, Sangrur by DSP Pritipal Singh and Sherwinder Singh was arrested red handed, while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000 from the complainant. He said that after the recovery of bribe money, a case under section 7 and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered against the accused at Vigilance Police Station, Patiala.
