UIPS, PU organizing 1-week faculty training school on “hands-on training and advancements in chromatography”
Chandigarh, September 20, 2019: The University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS), Panjab University is organizing a one week faculty training school on “Hands-on Training and Advancements in Chromatography” from September 23 to 28, 2019 under the initiative of UGC Networking Resource Centre. The course will be attended by 20 selected faculty participants representing 10 states across the country. Present training course has been planned to provide insights and hands on training on sophisticated chromatographic techniques. The course will give an opportunity to the participants to interact with the technical experts from academia and industries. The emphasis shall be on developing plumbing skills of handling simple to most advanced chromatographic instruments (HPTLC, HPLC, UPLC and GC-Head Space). The training course will cover the basic introductory lectures explaining the underlying principles and practical sessions on method development, analysis technique and troubleshooting of machines and methods. Dr G. N. Singh, Director, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Ghaziabad, will inaugurate the function and deliver the Key Note Address on "Role of Separation Technologies in Setting Pharmacopoeia Standards.” Chairperson of the Institute, Professor Kanwaljit Chopra is the Programme Coordinator of UGC-NRC Programme. Professor Maninder Karan (UIPS) will be the Coordinator of the Course, while Dr Jai Malik (UIPS) will be the Joint Coordinator. Sessions will open with a lecture on the Fundamentals of Chromatography by the Course Coordinator, Professor Maninder Karan, followed by a lecture on Chemical Fingerprinting of Ayurvedic Drugs & Formulations by HPTLC/HPLC by Professor Sanjay Jachak, Professor and In-charge, Natural Products, NIPER, Mohali, Punjab. The post-lunch session will cover Hands-on Chromatographic Techniques (TLC, PTLC, Chromatotron) by the Coordinators.
