UGC grants Distance Education Programmes’ Approval to LPU consecutively for 12th Academic Session

Jalandhar, October 9, 2018: As per the recently released recognition list of India’s different universities for offering distance education (DE) programmes; Distance Education Bureau of University Grant Commission (UGC) has accorded approval to Lovely Professional University (LPU) consecutively for 12th Academic Session. This prestigious recognition has once again enabled LPU to run 19 Distance Education programmes in Punjab. In fact, LPU is the only private university in Punjab, which has been given recognition to offer DE programmes in the state. Worth immediate noticing, the last date of admission for the current session of DE Programmes is 20th October, 2018. DE Programmes recognized to LPU include MBA, MCA, BBA, BCA, MSc IT, BSc IT, MCom, BCom, MA in Economics, Education, English, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Political Science, Sociology, BA, MLIS and BLIS. Besides, as per new Distance Education regulations of UGC, recognized universities can also offer their Diploma and PG Diploma programmes through Distance Education mode. In fact, LPU distance education has many accolades, awards and top ranks to its credit. Asia and Middle East’s premiere magazine- ‘Digital Learning’ has bestowed upon it ‘World Education Summit Award for Innovation in Open & Distance Learning’ in August 2018. Career Connect Magazine has awarded it with National Education Excellence Award for India’s Best University for Open, Distance & Online Learning in June 2018; and, in April 2018, India’s prominent magazine ‘Competition Success Review’ considered it among ‘Top Distance Learning Institutes of India’. Highlighting, LPU is running Distance Education programmes from its campus since 2007-2008 Session. Academic deliveries at LPU DE prorammes are facilitated through Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs) at university campus; online Learning Management System (LMS) ‘LPU e-Connect’; and, interactive Mobile App ‘LPU Touch’. In addition to these, various workshops, training programmes, special classes and placement drives are conducted for distance education students at university campus. Degrees are awarded to students along with regular students during convocation, which is presided over by prominent International or National leaders at the University Campus. This time also, near 26,000 LPU distance education students will attend 9th Convocation of the university, which is to be chaired by Vice -President of India on 22nd October, 2018. Distance Education Admission authority at LPU informs that for the admission process, students from the entire Punjab are presently visiting university campus in large number. They are getting the verification of documents done and bio-metric credentials captured. Newly enrolled students are also being oriented about various systems, processes and features related to DE study mode in induction sessions.
