Two-Day Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Conference to be organised at LPU from April 1

Jalandhar, March 28, 2016: ‘Spinal Cord Injury Association (SCIA)’ is going to organize two-day 2nd Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Conference ‘Vistaar’ at Lovely Professional University on 1st & 2nd April 2016. To be organized in collaboration with LPU at its Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, the four sessions of the conference will sensitize society and different agencies to adopt stringent measures in preventing such injuries to happen. Near 150 persons with spine-injuries will assemble at the campus, and have one to one interaction with experts from related fields. On this occasion, many wheelchairs will also be distributed to make them live active life of mobility and self-dependence. Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Sh Vijay Sampla, Police Officers, Politicians, Doctors, NGOs are to participate actively. More than 1000 people are to participate in the conference.

Addressing a press conference held in Jalandhar, President of Spinal Cord Injury Association Mr Parvinder Singh Sonu (M:8968300017), who is himself bed-ridden for several years, informed: “The main motive of the SCIA is to serve as a comprehensive resource center for individuals who have been personally affected by Spinal Cord Injury, those working in related fields, and other concerned persons.” Association’s Vice-President Mr Dawinder Singh shared: “Our Association aims to trace people suffering with such Injury, donate them wheel-chairs to be mobile and live life independently, coordinate with institutions for providing them vocational training to make them financially independent, sensitize society and different agencies to adopt stringent measures in preventing such injuries to happen and more.”

LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal said: “In consideration to our corporate social responsibility, we have been associated with this great humane endeavour. Often we see in many road accidents or other ill-happenings, many persons suffer “more than death” by being crippled & bed ridden for years and years together. Spinal Cord Injury Association team is really doing a commendable job by inspiring such sufferers to live an active social life in one or the other proud and awakened way.”
