Ludhiana, February 23, 2015: GGN Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT), Civil Lines celebrated ‘Turban Day’ at its institute here today to promote the importance of turban amongst the youngsters.
Prof.Manjit Singh Chhabra welcomed the audience and highlighted the relevance of this day. He informed the students that the turbans are worn in a variety of styles and colors, with some carrying symbolic significance. He motivated the Sikh students to continue the tradition of tying turban with more vigor. While talking to the media, he said that the event intended to keep the youngster rooted to their tradition Japneet Kaur, Lecturer, Computer Applications Department emphasised on the significance of turban across religions through a very informative presentation. She informed that turban signified pride and responsibility. She further educated that the importance of tying turban has been recognised through generations. She also discussed its relevance with respect to the Sikh culture.
This was followed by a turban tying competition to mark the celebration of this day. More than 30 students participated in the event.  The results were as follows:
1st prize:        Navjot Singh of BCA 6th sem
2nd Prize:       Manmeet Singh of Hotel Management 2nd sem
3rd Prize:       Deep Jot Singh  BBA 4th sem
Principal Dr. P. S Khattra congratulated the students for putting up a great show.
