Truck operators at JP Industries Bagga called off hunger strike

Shimla, June 15, 2017: Eight day long hunger strike of truck operators unions of District Solan and Bilaspur engaged in M/s JP Cement Industries Bagga was called off today with personal intervention on the issue by Industries Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri. The District Solan & Bilaspur JP Industries truck operators coordination committee was on strike due to non payment of about 27 crores transportation charges by the company.

Shri Mukesh Agnihotri, Industries Minister offered juice to Shri Prem Thakur, Shri Daulat Singh Thakur, Retd. Capt Bhagat Singh Thakur and Shri Kuldeep Thakur and the indefinite hunger strike was called off by the truck operators.

Addressing truck operators, Shri Agnihotri said that the state government was committed to maintain cordial industrial relations in the state for progress of industries. He said that due to efforts of Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh, industrial atmosphere in the state was very peaceful. He said that the situation had arisen because the J.P. cements had closed down this unit which would now be purchased by Ultratek Cement.

Shri Agnihotri assured the members of the coordination committee that all their dues would be cleared within a week. He also assured them that financers of the trucks would not impound their trucks till the payments were released to the operators.

Shri Ram Lal Thakur, Chairman 20 Point Programme thanked the Minister for taking interest in sorting out the issue in the larger interest of the state.

Additional Chief Secretary Shri AJV Prasad, Director Industries Shri Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Shri Rugved Thakur and Superintendent of Police Shri Rahul Bodh were also present.
