Ludhiana, June 26, 2015: In view of the technological innovations and advancements happening in the field of machinery and technologies used for knitting and weaving, a training program on “Advanced Knitting and Weaving Practices “   was organized from 15th June 2015 – 25th June 2015  by Apex Cluster Development Services Pvt Ltd (ACDS) also known as Clusterkraft, which is a Delhi based consultancy firm which work towards the objective of MSME cluster empowerment through Local Economic Development techniques. The training program is a part of Cluster Development program started and supported by SIDBI. The program is an initiative by SIDBI as a part of their efforts to work towards the financial inclusion of MSMEs in India. SIDBI has identified 5 gaps which are common to most of the clusters (a) Skill Development Gap, (b) Infrastructure Gap, (c) Knowledge Gap, (d) Credit Gap & (e) Policy Advocacy. Apart from these, there are certain cluster specific gaps which also need to be addressed. As a precursor to the detailed interventions covering all gaps, SIDBI has started  a short tem Cluster Level Intervention Programme (CLIP) covering  two common gap areas i.e. (i) Knowledge and (ii) Skill Development Gap. Under CLIP, out of the 30 MSME clusters studied, SIDBI has planned to make intervention in around 11 MSME clusters, spread across various regions /zones. On successful launch and based on the experience and findings, the interventions may be rolled out in the remaining clusters.
The program was organized with the view of skill enhancement of workers so that they become efficient in usage of advanced technologies. The training was provided by Northern India Textile Research (NITRA)   and the required infrastructure and support for training was provided by   Mr Gurpal Bhumba from Ocean Knit Fab and Mr Rotesh Sharma from M.H. international. On the concluding day of training program, participants were provided certificate by the NITRA.
The second part of training will start from 1st July and training on advanced weaving machines will be provided in that phase. The program aims to train  40-50 workers in the knitwear firms of Ludhiana so that the major issue of trained manpower can be handled in an inclusive manner.
