Special lecture on “Explosives: Its types and Post Blast Investigation”

Chandigarh, October 27, 2023: The Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University,Chandigarh organized a special lecture on “Explosives: Its types and Post Blast Investigation” by Dr. L.S.Rana, Former Deputy Director, Forensic Science Laboratory, Punjab.

Prof. Anil Monga paid homage to the police martyrs who have sacrificed their lives while performing their duties.In India, 21st October is observed as Police Commemoration Day to remember the sacrifices made by the policemen.

The speaker of the day Dr.L.S.Rana, Former Deputy Director, Forensic Science Laboratory,Punjab explained to the students various classifications of  explosives such as: high explosives (Detonating) viz. RDX, TNT, PETN, etc.  and low explosives( Deflagrating) viz. gun powder, MF, LA, LS, etc. Further, he elaborated on the role of police after the blast occurs and the precautions observed by the police while investigating the post blast crime scene. According to him the policemen should look for presence or absence of crater, seat/point of explosion, types/shape of projectiles, casing of the device if any, package for concealing(sack / bag/ polythene), type of explosive used on the crime scene while doing investigation which will help in solving the case.

The lecture was attended byDr.Kuldeep Singh, faculty at the centre along with research scholars and students of Centre for Police Administration.
