Noamundi, December 21, 2017: A 2-day National workshop on Mines Waste Valorization and Water Conservation concluded today at Noamundi.

The workshop was jointly organised by the Environment Research Group of Research & Development Department and Ore Mines & Quarries (OMQ) Division of Tata Steel at Noamundi on December 20-21, 2017.

The workshop was aimed at sharing information, gap identification and stimulates interaction in areas of common interests for sustainable and responsible mining initiatives. The workshop was designed to discuss various subjects like Rain Water Harvesting, process water optimization, recycling & reuse and mines waste valorization.

Among other speakers, the workshop was addressed by Padma Shri Chewang Norphel, popularly known as the "Iceman of India" from Ladakh. Mr Norphel shared his perspectives on water conservation. On the occasion, Mr Sanjiv Paul, Vice President (Safety, Health & Sustainability), Tata Steel felicitated the speakers. The workshop witnessed participation from persons working in mining industry, including engineers, researchers, scientists and speakers from organisations like IISC, TERI and NGO partners. The workshop was attended by about 70 people.
