Stimulating Start to The International Conference on CSR at UBS Ludhiana

Ludhiana, January 30, 2015: Day 1 of International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility at University Business School (UBS) Ludhiana was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Renowned personalities Dr Gurbhajan Singh Gill as chief guest, Dr Keshav Malhotra as guest of honour,  Dr CL Chandan   as key note speaker and Sardar Harpreet Singh Dua as special invitee, graced the occasion and shared panoramic perspectives on corporate social responsibility.

The inaugural session was followed by the panel discussion with experts from diverse backgrounds, right from industry to academia and from government agency to NGO.

Anil Kumar, ED & CEO, Shreyans Industries, Ludhiana talked from the perspective of industry saying profit making should not be seen as a stigma as SMEs can only move with their economic scale. He however appreciated the CSR activities which such companies can undertake at their level.

R K Ratra Executive Engineer Punjab Pollution Control Board highlighted the role of his organization in enforcing the law to reduce pollution.

Anil Jaggi Founder Member of SFID (Society for inclusive development) & CEO of Green Earth Alliance (GEA-S Asia) stressed the importance of strategic CSR framework.

Dr. Manjit Singh Professor School of Applied Management Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala, moderated the views of all panel members and concluded the panel discussion.

The later part of day encompassed two technical sessions on the theme of CSR and bottom line and issues in women safety and child labour.

Dr Hardiljit Singh Gosal, Director Panjab University Regional Centre Ludhiana thanked the esteemed guests for sharing their enlightened thoughts and enhancing the grace of event with their presence. He further stated that around 30 papers will be shared in the first day of the conference.
