Jalandhar, November 4, 2012 : In Punjab, the Jail, Tourism, Animal Husbandry and Welfare of SCs and BCs Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur has formulated a plan to boost income by way of promoting the profitable horse breeding profession and to encourage dairy industry in a big way.

This was stated by the minister at a press conference here today.

He said in order to preserve species if the fishes, a modern marketing center is being developed at Machhiwara with an estimated capacity of 12,000 quintals of fish spices, for that 50 per cent subsidy will be provided that comes to the tune of about 6 crore

Detailing about the progress being made in Animal Husbandry department he said," During the current year, Animal Husbandry Department will organise district level Live Stock Championships and Milking Competitions in all the twenty districts of Punjab from November 16 to December 21,2012.The winners will be awarded cash prizes worth 5.50 lakh alongwith certificates in each district level competition.

The budget will be Rs 1,98 crores, out of which Rs. 1.21 crore will be disbursed among winners."

Phillaur said after the culmination of these competitions, National Live Stock Championship-2013 will be organised at Shri Muktsar Sahib, from January 8 to 12 next with a budget of Rs. 2 crore.

Animals from other states alongwith the winners of the Punjab state district level will be participating.

The minister said a separate competitions will be conducted for animals of Punjab state animals coming from other states. Winners of these competitions will again compete with each other on final day. Those champions will be given Rs 1 lakh prize along trophies and certificates.

He said a total of Rs 1.25 crore worth prizes will be disbursed among winners.
