Ludhiana, January 9, 2016: Citing that the ever-growing routine reports regarding cyber-attacks, data thefts, identity thefts, hacking,  hishing, financial frauds, blackmailing etc., Trishneet Arora, CEO, TAC Security Solutions, cyber security expert, an ethical hacker, and author said that regular audits of information infrastructure are a must to safeguard any backdoor entries to your information systems against notorious cyber-attacks.

While Industries deploy dedicated risk management plans against fire, accidents, natural disasters, financial risks et al, they have completely
failed to fathom the crisis looming large because of the dependence on information technology infrastructure.

“SMEs must incorporate Cyber- Security right into the inherent Risk Management Plan”, says Trishneet adding, “The wide reach and exposure of technology, technological advancements and rising inter-connectivity has multiplied the vulnerability exponentially, and so, the possible
cyber-attacks.”

Trishneet says, “While the country has made enormous progress in sectors such as information technology and e-commerce, the cyber-security in India is at a nascent stage.  The concept of engaging services of professional hackers to track, identify and plug security loopholes in the organization’s information systems is catching up and aware organizations have already started earmarking dedicated budgets for their data security needs.”

Sharing that as per reports, the damage that cyber-crimes inflicted on the global economy amounted to $ 445 billion. As per reports, "The average number of information security incidents detected by respondents increased by 117 per cent over the previous year. Meanwhile, the increase in incidents of cyber-security breach globally stood at just 39 per cent during the period under consideration (July 2014-June 2015)”.
Losses as a result of incidents of cyber-security also surged by 135 per cent over the previous year, and the average cost per incident increased by close to 8 per cent, as per the report.

Almost all the industry verticals including health care, telecom, finance, education, insurance, government, retail et al, are by default depending more and more on information technology for the vast information needs, which makes them equally vulnerable to data security threats, insists Trishneet.

The paradigm shift in the way we work and deliver in the present technology intensive ecosystem, he adds, makes the whole technology
infrastructure, the information technology system more and more vulnerable to information theft threats.  The increasing reliance on computers systems including the wide variety of smart devices using internet, private data networks, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and other wireless networks to manage the day to day information flow makes cyber security a key concern.

Trishneet stressed, “Commensurate efforts need to be made to protect information systems from theft or damage to the hardware, the software, and to the information on them, as well as from disruption or misdirection of the services they provide”.
