He delivered his lecture on the topic Fundamental of Particle Physics and their detection. FDP Coordinator Mrs.Meenkashi Syal, Convener Dr.Ekta Khosla and Organizing Secretary Dr.Meena Sharma welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers. Dr. P.V.K.S. Baba started his lecture with invention of atom and then constitution of atom. He explained that the constituents of atom i.e. protons and neutrons could be further subdivided into quarks. He explained the term quark and discussed the properties and masses of quark. He emphasized about the four forces existing in universe to make it stable. He further discussed about discovery of Higgs Boson and the development in experiments of large Ladron Collider. He discussed about the matter/antimatter symmetry.
In the next session, he talked on Neutrino Oscillations & Physics beyond standard Model. He emphasized on various types of accelerator like linear, synchrotron, and collider. He said that we are still looking for supersymmetry and dark matter. In the evening session, Dr. Santanu Maiti from Physics department of ISI Kolkata was the resource person. He discussed some novel aspects of quantum transport in low-dimensional systems. He talked about logical operations in nano-scale level, spin selective transport and possibility of quantum computation. Principal Dr. Mrs. Ajay Sareen appreciated the efforts of the organizers.
