Chandigarh, August 8, 2014: All jails in Punjab would allow visitors on Raksha Bandan from 9 am to 5 pm to enable the sisters of the inmates to tie Rakhi on the wrists of their brothers.
Sohan Singh Thandal has issued directions for the Jail Superintendents to make special arrangements on the occasion of Raksha Bandan. He has specifically asked the jail authorities to allow visitors on Raksha Bandan from 9 am to 5 pm so that sisters’ of the inmates could tie ‘Rakhis’.
In a press communiqué released here Thandal said that Raksha Bandan is an auspicious festival of India which is the embodiment of brother-sister mutual love. He said all jails would make special arrangements on this day sisters of the inmates be allowed to tie Rakhis from 9 am to 5 pm. Strict security norms would, however, be observed, he added.
