Significant decision to upgrade link road network in Punjab

Chandigarh, October 7, 2015: In a significant decision to upgrade the link road network in the state and to connect every village and small town of the state with the highways, the Punjab Government has given go ahead for the special repair of 4233.79 kilo meter link roads by investing Rs.557.90 Crore. It was disclosed by Mr.Janmeja Singh Sekhon, PWD Minister, Punjab in a press communiqué released after chairing the review meeting of all the wings of the department.
Mr. Sekhon said that the tendering process for this project has been completed and work was under process. He said that this ambitious project of upgrading the state and rural link roads would be completed by April 30, 2016.
The Minister further said that the state government has also given its nod for the patch work of another 4666.88 kilo meter link roads. “On this project Rs 46.97 Crore would be spent and tendering process of this patch work project has also been completed and work is under process at fast pace” said Mr. Sekhon. He said that this project has been scheduled to be completed by February 28, 2016.
The PWD Minister issued strict instructions to the Chief Engineers of all the wings of the department to adhere to the high standards of quality while executing this work. He also directed them to ensure the timely completion of both these projects.
