NABARD Allocates Rs.560 Crores To Punjab Under RIDF

Chandigarh, October 7, 2015: NABARD has made normative allocation of Rs.560 crore to the State of Punjab for sanction of new projects under RIDF-XXI scheme for the year 2015-16. The status and future action plan of State Government projects funded under this scheme was discussed in detail in the High Powered Committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Mr.Sarvesh Kaushal, Chief Secretary Punjab. The officials of Finance Department informed Chief Secretary that Department of Irrigation and  Public Works Department have been allocated Rs. 190 crore each, Department of Education & Department of Water Supply & Sanitation have been allocated Rs. 90 crore and Rs. 80 crore respectively. Chief Secretary stated that all the projects of the State Government of Rs. 560 crores which have been funded under this scheme shall be completed within timeline by the concerned departments.
Some of the major projects sanctioned by the committee included upgradation of 319 km length of water course on Sirhind feeder in Mukatsar District, strengthening and widening of 64 roads in 19 districts, construction of buildings & infrastructure in meritorious schools etc. CGM NABARD mentioned that for all the projects, technical sanction needs to be given within 3 months from the date of the sanction of the project and the tendering should be completed in 6 months from the date of the sanction. CS directed that all administrative secretaries would ensure administrative approval to all pending projects within next three days. Chief Secretary further asked all the concerned Administrative Secretaries to adhere to all the terms and conditions of NABARD funding.
The Meeting was attended by Mr. Mandeep Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Mr. D P Reddy, Principal Secretary Finance, Mr. Viswajit Khanna, Financial Commissioner Forests, Mr. Jaspal Singh, Secretary Expenditure, Mr P M Ghole, CGM NABARD apart from officials from the concerned departments.
