Shramdan Camp organised in GNDU Botanical Garden

Amritsar, March 5, 2015: The Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences of Guru Nanak Dev University organised one-day 'Shramdan' Camp in the Botanical Garden. Different taxonomic and habitat sections of the garden were assigned to different classes under the supervision of teachers-in-charge and research scholars. The students undertook deweeding and cleaning of these sections for the whole day long.

A team of senior teachers headed by A.K. Thukral judged the progress of work and announced prizes for the classes which performed the best. The camp ended with a session of sports including the tug of war, three legged race, the lemon race and other competitions. It is pertinent to mention that 'Shramdan' camp is an important part of the yearly calendar of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the Department.  Satwinderjeet Kaur, head of the Department and Dr. A.S. Soodan addressed the morning assembly and apprised the students of the general layout of the garden and the importance of 'Shramdan' camp. / (SK Vyas/Jalandhar)
