Ludhiana, January 3, 2016: Under the guidance and sole inspiration of Dr.Dharam Singh Sandhu and college alumni association SCD Government College, Ludhiana hosted a mega, alumni meet here today, 03 Jan. 16, in the college campus.
S.Mahesh Inder Singh Garewal, Advisor Chief Minister of Punjab, inaugurated the newly built Gate of the college. He was accorded a most cordial welcome by principal, teaching faculty and student council. This one day event was graced by a large number of alumni ranging from various parts of the country.
The alumni meet was started with the inauguration of gate and shabad gayan, ‘deh shiv aver mohe…..’
Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Inder singh garewal underlined and praised the academics, entrepreneurial and other achievements of alumni in different spheres of life. “ it is matter of great pride and honour of the college that its alumni is holding positions of responsibility in various organisations of society and many of them are successful entrepreneurs providing jobs to others and hence contributing the economic growth of the country.” He said.
Prof. VP Gaur and Prof. Rajinder singh, ex-student, lecturer and principal acclaimed their contribution in the growth of their Alma mater and emphasised the need for further strengthening of linkages between alumni and instution.
The inaugural session was followed by cultural programme – dance, songs and bhangra by students of the college and alumni. Shubham started with a classical performance and Raj set the stage on fire while dancing. Nitin raised the Goosebumps of the audience by giving a tumultuous performance on singing ‘yaar anmulle’.
Many alumni members shared their experiences with the audience. They said, they cannot forget their alma mater because what they are today, they are due to college.
Great bonhomie was observed everywhere with old students reliving their old memories with their batch mates, senior and juniors.
All alumni members conveyed sense of gratitude towards alumni for the support and enthusiasm they have shown towards their institution through their participation.
