Actor Pearl V Puri has a tough time managing a saree for Meri Saasu Maa

The charming actor Pearl V Puri, who plays Sattu in ZEE TV’s popular drama Meri Saasu Maa was recently seen attired as a woman in a black and yellow sari and had a tough time managing it. The current track of the show sees Maa Saab (played by Anindita Kapileshwari) confessing that she was the mastermind behind the game plan of getting Pari (played by Hiba Nawab) married to their servant and it was only accidentally that Sattu landed up in the mandap. To make up for this devious act, she declares that the family will come together and organize a special wedding with all the rituals for Pari and Sattu. The celebrations begin with Pari’s haldi, a ceremony meant only for the women of the house. However, Pari challenges Sattu to enter the function and be the first one to apply haldi on her. Now this shot required Sattu to be disguised as a woman to merge into the gathering.
Pearl actually ended up spending the whole day in a saree, stumbling all over the place and banging himself against the furniture. Sharing his experience, Pearl said, ‘’ This was the first time I wore a saree in my life and I salute all the ladies who not just wear it every day but also do all the running around in it. It really was challenging to act and walk in a saree especially when I was required to climb the stairs. To add to the misery, I was supposed to wear a long ghoongat covering my face. The only respite being that because of this I was spared of heavy layers of make-up. It was so difficult walking in a saree and ensuring the ghoongat doesn’t slip away. I also managed to trip over my saree twice and my stylist was literally shadowing me to fix it and help me with it. I always enjoyed seeing Kamaal Hassan sir dressing up as lady in ‘Chachi 420’ and never imagined it would be such a task. I am just glad the sequence was over in a day and it was hopefully the last time I had to wear a saree.”
Stay tuned to Meri Saasu Maa, every Monday to Saturday at 7:30 PM, only on ZEE TV!
