Chandigarh, November 13, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 12193549 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.
Out of total procurement of 12193549 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 11591073 tonnes of paddy (95.1%) till date whereas private traders procured 602476 tonnes (4.9%) of paddy. Till November 12, PUNGRAIN had procured 3522574tonnes (30.4%) whereas MARKFED procured 2711262 tonnes (23.4%). PUNSUP procured 2596209 tonnes (22.4%), PSWC procured 1135267 tonnes (9.8%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 1181558 tonnes (10.2%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 444203 tonnes (3.8%).
The spokesperson added that District Sangrur with 1489095 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ludhiana with 1411399 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Patiala 1194747 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
