"SAKHI POLLING STATIONS” TO BE SET UP IN ALL CONSTITUENCIES OF DISTRICT: PRADEEP KUMAR AGRAWAL

ON OCCASION OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY, MODEL “SAKHI POLLING STATION” SET UP AT LODHI CLUB TODAY Ludhiana, March 8, 2019: As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, “Sakhi Polling Stations” would be set up in all Vidhan Sabha constituencies of district Ludhiana. Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that at least one such polling station would be set up in each Vidhan Sabha constituency. On the occasion of International Women Day, a model “Sakhi Polling Station” was set up in Lodhi Club today, which was visited by Wife of Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Sanyogita Agrawal and ADC (Jagraon) Neeru Katyal Gupta, besides other women officers of the district administration. Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal informed that it is for the first time that Sakhi polling stations would be set up. He said that all the election staff, including police personnel, deputed at Sakhi Polling Station would be women. Women officials posted in the district have also been given bigger responsibilities for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Additional deputy commissioner (development) Dr Shena Aggarwal is the additional district election officer, Ludhiana; ADC (Jagraon) Neeru Katyal Gupta, assistant commissioner (general) Poonam Preet Kaur and district revenue officer Savita are nodal officers for different election related activities; Sumit Mudh, Jeevanjot Kaur, Geetika Singh, Sonam Chaudhary, Swati Tiwana would be assistant returning officers for different constituencies. Anju Bala is posted as election tehsildar, besides several women police officers would be on duty for the elections.
