Kapurthala, July 24, 2013: Punjab government has provided financial assistance of Rs 2.70 Lac to 37 beneficiaries under the Balri Rakshak Yojna till March end this year.
Disclosing this here today, DS Mangat Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala said that 30 new cases were reported in 2012-13 whereas 7 cases were registered earlier under this scheme.
Deputy Commissioner said that Punjab government in an effort to encourage birth of girls and empower women launched this scheme in the year 2005. Under this scheme Rs 500 per girl is given to those families who adopt family planning programme after birth of single or second girl child till the age of 18 years.
Briefing about the scheme he said that any resident of Punjab who is not in the Government job and not filling any return could benefit from this scheme.
He further said that Punjab government or Punjab government’s Board/Corporations employees could also avail benefits of this scheme that are posted outside Chandigarh or Punjab.
Giving details about the transfer of money to the beneficiaries he said that families having two girl Childs accounts of both the girls would be opened separately and interest would also be given on the amount deposited.
