PUNJAB Health Department recruits 602 staff nurses

Chandigarh, July 7, 2013: Punjab Governments drive to strengthen the health services in the state, Health Department has recruited 602 Staff Nurses on regular basis through a transparent and fair process of recruitment. 

Disclosing this here today, Madan Mohan Mittal, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Punjab said that newly selected Staff Nurses would be shortly joining the department.

He said that more doctors and other supporting staff would also be recruited in the health department very soon. Minister also added that they are in a process to improve infrastructure and provide ultra modern healthcare facilities in the government hospitals.

Minister said that the norms for staff nurses have significantly been enhanced and additional posts have been created for running the de-addiction centres, ICU and SNCUs. He added that  in a new initiative, these newly selected staff nurses would be imparted a 6 days orientation and induction training course in order to sensitise and train them regarding the various national health programmes, orientation about their profile and the nature of duties expected from them. The induction course for these Staff nurses would begin from beginning 8th July 2013 in a phased manner.

He said that recruitment of staff nurses would not only provide employment to youth but also greatly help in bridging the gap of paramedical staff in the health institutions and further improve the patient care services, especially the indoor services in the government hospitals.

Mittal said that the department has also finalised the list of 21 Psychiatric Social Workers who will the posted in various de-addiction centres in the state and work as counsellors along with Psychiatrists already posted there.
