Recognition to Leader of Opposition shall be given on rules: Himachal CM

Dharamshala, January 8, 2018: On reaching Dharamshala today, CM Jai Ram Thakur reacted over the quarries of the media at the Gaggal Airport on Monday. He said, “The recognition to Leader of Opposition shall be given on rules.” Congress is the opposition party with only 21 MLAs in the 68 member assembly in HP, whereas a number of 23 is the requirement for 1/3rd majority to get its leader recognised. He further added that he will discuss the matter in BJP MLAs meeting.
The winter session is being organised at Tapovan at Dharamshala from 9th to 12th January, where speaker and Deputy Speakers shall be elected beside the oath ceremony of MLAs. On 1st day Governor of HP shall address the session.
Taking to media in Dharamshala, the CM HP Jai Ram Thakur said, “It is the first assembly session of the newly elected government.” He said that the youth of the state is highly optimistic over our government, and they just wait and we will come up to their expectations. “We shall work on the schemes, which benefit the young generation”, he added. He said that “we have already lowered the age limit from 80 to 70 years for pension where income is not the criteria, to benefit the senior citizens.”
Earlier, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was given rousing reception on reaching Gaggal airport at Kangra today. He was received at Gaggal airport by senior BJP leaders including ex-CM Shanta Kumar and his cabinet colleagues. Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs Minister Kishan Kapoor, Urban Development Minister Smt.Sarveen Chaudhary, Health and Family Welfare Minister Vipin Parmar, Industries Minister Vikram Singh, Forest Minister Govind Thakur, including MLAs reached Gaggal airport to welcome the Chief Minister.
Thousands of people had gathered on both sides of the road to see glimpse of the Chief Minister. From Gaggal airport he went to Circuit House Dharmshala in an open roof top car waving at the crowd and expressing his gratitude to them for love and respect.
The Chief Minister arrived at Dharamshala for the 1st session of 13th Vidhan Sabha at Tapovan being held from 9th to 12th January 2018.
He also presided over the BJP legislative party meet in the evening.
