Ludhiana, May 3, 2016: A delegation of the United Cycles and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), Ludhiana on Monday met Major Singh, General Manager, R&D Centre for Bicycle & Sewing Centre, Ludhiana, and discussed many issues related to the industry.

Major Singh has taken over as the GM here recently. The association general secretary Rajeev Jain welcomed the new general manager. The delegates urged that the R & D centre should install the testing facility in house to pass reflection of the reflectors. They suggested that centre should install machine to produce quality reflectors for the industry.

It was discussed that the low cost automation machinery should be developed for the betterment of industry.

The association president Charanjit Singh Vishkarma urged the centre to develop aluminum technology, carbon fibre frames, disc brakes etc.

In response, Major Singh told that he was always ready to upgrade the industry and would give all help to the industry. He added they have already made team to develop machines for low cost automation. He said test rigs were also being developed so that industry could use the test rigs for their items to improve quality.

The GM also told that they were developing robotic welding technique for frames and other parts for the industry.

Regarding the issue of reflectors he said they would make moulds for the reflectors for the industry at the low cost so that they could compete with China.

Further, Major Singh told that the centre would develop the items as per the demand of the industry.

The delegates also visited and witness the facilities in the research and development centre. The new machines were seen installed there for testing the bicycles and parts.

Manjit Singh Khalsa, Avtar Singh Bhogal, Inderjit singh Navyug, Rajinder Singh Sarhali and Rajinder Singh Pappu were among those included in the delegation.
