Rare Laparoscopy Radical Cystoprostatectomy Surgery Done in Fortis Hospital, Ludhiana

Ludhiana, September 14, 2015: Mr.RK of age 42 years old male came to Fortis Hospital Ludhiana. He was very critically ill  with chief complaints of dysuria and hematuria with clots for 6 months. On evaluation Dr.Ashish Jindal Consultant Urologist (Laparoscopy and Kidney Transplant Surgeon) diagnosed that he is suffering with sessile bladder mass with B/L Hydroureteronephrosis with Right Double ureter with pelvic lymphadenopathy with normal creatinine.
 
Giving more information, Dr Ashish Jindal Consultant Urologist (Laparoscopy and Kidney Transplant Surgeon) said that Patient underwent Transurethral resection of Bladder Tumour (TURT) and was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer High grade with muscle invasion. Then he received 3 cycles of Chemotherapy. Present CECT showed sessile mass in bladder with B/L HUN with normal creatinine with left pelvic lymphnode of less than 1 cm. As patient was clinically preserved, he was planned for Radical cystoprostatectomy.
 
Dr Ashish Jindal and his team performed Laparoscopy Radical Cystoprostatectomy and then ileal conduit by small incision. Only 1 unit of blood transfusion was done intraoperatively. He was started orally on 3rd post operative day. His drains were removed on 4th post operative day. Patient was discharged on 5th post operative day. His biopsy report showed High grade Tansitional cell carcinoma of Urinary bladder reaching up to perivescial adipose tissue with negative margins. Lymph nodes are negative for malignancy.  He tolerated the surgery well and now he is planned for adjuvant remaining 3 cycles of chemotherapy after 2 weeks. Laparoscopy Radical Cystoprostatectomy is very challenging surgery and only few cases have been reported in the literature.
