Ramgarhia Girls College Organises 7-day NSS Camp

Ludhiana, October 10, 2016: Ramgarhia Girls College has organized a 7-day National Service Scheme (NSS) camp in its portals on the theme “Healthy Public Sanitation and Personal Hygiene” from 10th to 16th Oct. ‘16. 150 volunteers from the college and 15 non-students have taken part in it under the guidance of Programme Officers – Mrs Ritu Sood, Mrs Mandeep Kaur and Ms Preetika. Principal, Dr Inderjit Kaur and S Jagtar Singh, General Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council, inaugurated the camp. In her address, Dr Inderjit Kaur said: “In accordance to the motto of NSS – “Not me, but you,” the camp also aims to inculcate a sense of responsibility among the volunteers and enrich their social consciousness.” While motivating the students to dedicate themselves to the cause of society, S Jagtar Singh averred: “We cannot change our society by condemning it alone. We must strive to be the change we wish to see in the world.” S Ranjodh Singh said that such camps encouraged the youngsters to play their part dutifully and usher in a healthy society. The Programme Officers apprised the volunteers of various activities that will be undertaken over the period of seven days. They will participate in an array of activities like yoga, painting, embroidery, self-defense, etc. An effort will be made to inculcate in them awareness about safety of women, human rights, personal hygiene etc. Various committees have been formed for the smooth conduct of the camp. On the first day, Dr Jasmeet Singh, General Physician, delivered a talk on the importance of balanced diet for girls. In the interactive session that followed the lecture, Dr Singh answered the queries of volunteers. On the concluding day, a rally will be taken out by the volunteers to spread awareness about social issues.
