Ramgarhia Girls College Observes Vigilance Awareness Week

Ludhiana, November 4, 2016: Tagore Literary Society, Department of English of Ramgarhia Girls College, observed Vigilance Awareness Week in association with The Oriental Insurance Company Limited by organising an intra-college declamation and essay writing competition wherein students presented their views on the topic “Public Participation in Promoting Integrity and Eradicating Corruption.” Dr J. L. Ahuja, Chief Regional Manager, The Oriental Insurance Company Limited, presided over the event as chief guest. Dr Inderjit Kaur, Principal, Mrs Tajinder Kaur, Head of the Dept. of English, Mr Dinesh Grover, Mr Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Deputy Managers, and Mr R S Behl, Administrative Officer, The Oriental Insurance Company Limited, extended him a warm welcome. While addressing the students, Dr J. L Ahuja averred: “The views of students on corruption reflect their disappointment with the system that does not allow transparency. I urge all the students to take a pledge to follow the path of righteousness and make the society a better place to live in.” Dr Inderjit Kaur said: “Celebrating the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which falls on 31st October, as Vigilance Awareness Week renews our commitment to promote integrity and accountability in our society. I appreciate the students for having a mature and healthy outlook on the issue of corruption which is eating into the vitals of our country.” While emphasizing on the importance of eradicating corruption, S Ranjodh Singh, President, and S Jagtar Singh, General Secretary, Ramgarhia Educational Council, said that corruption could not be eliminated as long as stakeholders did not raise voice against the same. In order to curb the menace, the citizens needed to be vigilant about their rights as well as their duties. Mrs Tajinder Kaur appreciated the students for writing and declaiming on the grave issue of corruption. In the competition of declamation, Reena (B. Com. I) bagged first prize, Mansi (B. Com II) secured second prize and Bhavika (B. Com I) got third prize. Komalpreet Kaur (B. Com II) and Gurleen Kaur (B. Com I) were given special prizes. In the competition of essay writing, Reena (B. Com. I) clinched first prize, Priya (B. A. II) seized second prize and Davinder Kaur (B. A. III) got third prize.
