IKGPTU students won two prizes in ICFOST Convention held at GNDU

Jalandhar, November 21, 2016: The students and faculty of Department of Food Engineering, I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University participated in the 25th Indian Convention of Food Scientists and Technologists (ICFOST XXV) organized jointly by Guru Nanak Dev University, Association of Food Scientists and Technologist, India (AFSTI), Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru and Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), Mysuru at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar from 10th to 12th November 2016. The selected theme of the conference “Food Processing for Sustainable Agriculture & Industry (Food Pro SAI)” focused on the key issues in the food science and technology in which more than 180 posters from all across India on varied themes were presented. With the aim of providing a promising platform to the budding researchers, 12 best poster awards were announced by AFST(I). It is a matter of pride that out of these 12 poster awards, two best poster awards were bagged by Ms. Charu Sharma, student (M. Tech) and Er. Barinderjit Singh, Assistant Professor from I. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University for their outstanding research work focusing on the bioactive components present in apple and black gram which are beneficial to prevent certain chronic diseases. Dr N P Singh (Dean P& D) congratulated the winners for their achievement and incentivized other researchers and faculty for striving towards excellence in research endeavors. He further proclaimed that IKGPTU is committed to imparting conducive research environment and participation in such conferences and conventions is an academic service which is the hall mark of every good academic institution and IKGPTU will ensure that it continues with such endeavors in the days to come”.
