Ludhiana, July 7, 2015: Prominent leaders of different trade unions of Roadways, Corporation, Banks, Universities, Hospitals, Electricity Board, Teachers and other government; semi government and industry will address the rally of protesting contract and DPL workers union of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) who are protesting for their just demands for the last three weeks on 9th July. The protesting employees are demanding withdrawal of affidavit which is demanded by the university authorities at the time of giving extension in their services.
As per the affidavit the employees working for the last more than five to ten years have to give in writing that they will never demand for regularization of the their services, will never demand in extension of their services as a matter of right and they can be put to any work which they will abide by. In a press statement released here today D P Maur – General Secretary and Naresh Gaur – President of Joint Council of Trade Unions Ludhiana termed this affidavit as unconstitutional and illegal. They further said that today contract and DPL workers are working in almost all sectors may be railways, hospitals, roadways, schools, corporation, power sector and other government and semi government institutes; but nowhere such affidavit is demanded. Therefore they appealed to the Vice Chancellor of the Veterinary University to impress upon the concerned officials to withdraw such affidavit immediately. The Joint Council of Trade Unions further supported the demand of protesting employees for coverage under the ESI for healthcare and provident fund for pension and gratuity which is as per labour laws.
