Rakhra meets U.G.C Chairman, Bats for fund allocation to 11 new colleges in State

Chandigarh, February 17, 2016: The Higher education minister Punjab, Mr.Surjit Singh Rakhra met Mr.Ved Prakash, chairman of UGC, today at New Delhi. During the meeting the discussions occurred regarding the issuing of grants under different schemes for colleges of Punjab. Mr.Rakhra also urged for allocation of funds for 11 new colleges in the State which are under construction.
Mr. Ved Prakash assured that he will facilitate the colleges of Punjab with maximum grants. He also told that these colleges should send their projects under various schemes as per norms of UGC, so that no hindrances arise in clearance of these projects.
Regarding issuing of funds for 11 new colleges the chairman stated that, as these colleges commence operations, their cases should be sent after getting them registered under rule 12(B) and 2 F of UGC so that maximum grants are issued after careful consideration.
On this occassion, Secretary UGC Dr. Jaspal Singh and Additional Director ,Higher Education Dr. Gurdasan Singh Brar were also present.
