Lohri and Makar Sankranti being celebrated at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar on Wednesday.
Jalandhar, January 13, 2016: The Staff and students of Student Welfare Association of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar celebrated Lohri and Makar Sankranti by distributing educational kits to 28 meritorious students of SD Phullarwan Girls Sr.Sec.School, Jalandhar. The students sang folk songs to dhol beats around a bonfire to celebrate the festival with the girl students of the school of the school. The initiative was appreciated by Dr. Sucharita, Principal of the College who said that girls are no less important than boys and it is imperative that they are given their due status in the society. She said such steps are essential not only to make our young generation aware of their responsibilities towards society but also teaches them to share the moments of harmony with the neglected segments of our society. On this occasion, the students of the college distributed sweets amongst all the students of the school making it a memorable Lohri for them.
