Punjab’s Home Grown Chain of Hearing Aid Anand Hearing Care in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, September 3, 2013: “One out of every 20 people in India is suffering from a hearing problem. But using hearing aids is still a taboo in our society.  Majority of the People take hearing impairment as a handicap, which is not true.  People suffering from hearing loss don’t want to use the hearing aids because of the social stigma attached to them. The big size of the conventional hearing aids is also a major deterrent.”

This was stated by T S Anand, Founder, Anand Hearing Care at week long Free Hearing Test & Trial camp organised by the company at their Clinic located at Dandi Swami Temple Chowk, Civil Lines, Ludhiana.

The week long free camp was a part of series of free camps AHC is organising in the entire Punjab Haryana and Chandigarh on the occasion of completion of first year of its operations.

Anand said, “Anand Hearing Care offers a perfect solution to the problem of hearing loss or hearing impairment. With the help of wide digital range of World’s Smallest Hearing Aids which are virtually invisible people can lead a normal life without actually letting anybody know that they are using hearing aids.”

On the occasion Dr. Narinder Verma, ENT Specialist, President of the Ludhiana ENT Forum disclosed “The most common causes of hearing loss are aging, viral infection, exposure to loud sounds or ear wax.  The other causes are Head injury, Birth Defects, Heredity etc. But I don’t think it’s a handicap. We definitely need to rectify it by using hearing aids. Avoiding hearing aids knowingly only for the fear of social acceptance causes inconvenience and embarrassment in public is not a right thing.  Hearing loss invariably affects quality of life. We need to spread awareness about hearing impairment and its remedies. Anand Hearing Care India has taken this initiative and I feel privileged and honored to be an important part of this awareness movement.”

Talking about the various consumer awareness initiatives being undertaken by Anand Hearing Care Anand said, “Anand Hearing Care is working towards bringing social awareness about hearing impairment. We are planning tie-ups with NGO’s, schools, and sponsorships for less privileged, professional conferences etc. to enable people to remove all apprehensions regarding the use of hearing aids.

At another function held at a local hotel, T. S. Anand gave a presentation to members of the Ludhiana ENT Forum on the latest developments in the field of digital hearing aids. He informed the doctors present that the biggest difficulty for hearing aid users was to understand speech in the presence of noise. For solving this problem the latest development was the possibility of using wireless techniques to connect a distant speaker with the hearing aid user. This technology could also be used to hear mobile phone conversations very clearly and also to hear the sounds from a TV with proper understanding.

Anand also informed the doctors that the new Anand Hearing Care clinic near the Dandi Swami Temple in Civil Lines, Ludhiana was now equipped to do a complete Audiological Assessment in children. This included tests such as BERA, ASSR, OAE, Free Field testing, Behavioral Observation Audiometry etc. Now children who are born with hearing problems can be diagnosed at an early age and fitted with Cochlear Implants and Hearing Aids as required.

He also said that the clinic had highly qualified audiologists and speech therapists and all types of Speech defects could also be treated besides providing speech therapy for hearing impaired children.
