Punjab suspends IGP Gautam Cheema

Chandigarh, September 13, 2014: The Punjab Government has today placed Gautam Cheema, IPS, Inspector General of Police, under suspension with immediate effect.
According to a spokesperson of Department of Home Affairs and Justice a complaint was filed by Kricpy Khera, Maninder Gulati and Amarpreet Verma against Gautam Cheema. He said that to ensure free and fair probe regarding the allegations Cheema placed under suspension with immediate effect. He further said that during suspension period his headquarter would be the office of Director General of Police, Punjab, Chandigarh.
