Punjab to recruit 404 doctors to strengthen health delivery system in rural areas

Chandigarh, April 7, 2015: The Punjab government was all set to recruit 404 doctors in Health Department with an aim to eliminate the shortcomings of Doctors in dispensaries and civil hospitals across the state especially in rural belt and border areas.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the government said that these appointments would be made through Punjab Public Service Commission. Giving the breakup of the vacancies to be filled, he said that out of 404 vacancies there are 332 are regular and 72 are backlog posts. The categories in which they are being employed are General, ESM/LDESM, Freedom Fighter, Sports Person, Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, Orthopedically Disabled, S.C, Balmiki/Mazbhi Sikh, and BC.

 Selection process for the said posts is through the competitive examination, the exam date will be announced separately. Last date to apply for these jobs online is on April 9, 2015, while the last date for the receipt of hard copy of duly filled is April 24, 2015.

Adding further, he said that shortlisted Candidates will be under probation over a period of 2 years. Referring to the qualification and experience required for the doctors, he said that the applicant should possess MBBS degree and registered with the Punjab Medical Council or with any other duly constituted Medical Council in India. He said knowledge of Punjabi Language up to Matriculation Standard or its equivalent is mandatory. He also said that the candidates who do not possess this qualification shall have to acquire this qualification within six months of their joining the services failing with their services shall be terminated. The age limit of doctors is below 37 years.
