Punjab reconstitutes Bet Area Advisory Council

Chandigarh, September 5, 2012: The Punjab Government has reconstituted Punjab State Bet Area Advisory Council for the overall development of the area.

Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab would be chairman of this council, whereas Deputy Chief Minister, MPs, MLAs and Principal Secretaries of different departments have been inducted as members in this council.

It is worth mentioning that some days ago, Punjab has reconstituted Kandi Area Advisory Council.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesman said that apart from Deputy Chief Minister, the other official members of these council included Revenue Minister, Finance Minister, Chief Secretary, Financial Commissioner, Development, Financial Commissioner, Forest and Wild Life, Principal Secretary, Finance, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Principal Secretary, Irrigation, Principal Secretary, Planning, Secretary, Power, Secretary, School Education, Secretary, PWD B&R, Secretary, Water Supply and Sanitation, Chairman cum MD, Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited, Chairman cum MD, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited and Deputy Commissioners of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Ferozpur, Fazilka, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Moga, Mansa, Patial, Roop Nagar, SAS Nagar, SBS Nagar and Tarn Taran.

Elaborating the functioning of this council, the spokesman said that this council would define the Bet area of the state besides, to aid and advice the government in drawing up schemes and programmes for the development of area. He said that this council would undertake the area planning of these areas in order to ensure integrated and all round development of this area, to fix priorities of various development works to be executed in these areas, to co-ordinate and review the activities of various departments with a view to remove the bottlenecks in the speedy implementation of programmes, to take effective steps for spreading literacy in these areas and to devise measures to raise the standard of living of the backward section, landless labourers and agricultural works in these area.
