Punjab News/PUNGRAIN leads in paddy procurement

Chandigarh, November 14, 2013: State procurement agency PUNGRAIN achieved first position in paddy procurement. PUNGRAIN procured 3549711, the 30.4 per cent of the total procurement of the state, till November 13.
Government agencies and private millers procured more than 12285150 tonnes of paddy till last evening.
The spokesman of the Punjab government said that Out of total procurement of 12285150 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, Government agencies procured 11677420 tonnes of paddy till date whereas private traders procured 607730 tonnes of paddy. Till November 13, PUNGRAIN procured 23549711 tonnes (30.4%), MARKFED procured 2731167 tonnes (23.4%). whereas PUNSUP had procured 2614946 tonnes (22.4%) PSWC procured 1144072  tonnes (9.8%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 1190820 tonnes (10.2%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 446704  tonnes (3.8%).
The spokesman added that District Sangrur with 1501706 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ludhiana with 1424826 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district patiala with 1198938 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
