PUNJAB Government issues fresh guidelines on GP Fund accounts of Group D employees

Chandigarh, July 22, 2013: The Punjab Government has issued fresh guidelines to maintain the General Provident Fund (GPF) of Class IV employees (now group D) in the state.

Disclosing this here today a official spokesman of the Punjab government said that a new pension scheme was implemented for the employees recruited after January 1, 2004 on which the deduction for GPF was not applicable. The GPF accounts of Group D Employees were not maintained properly.

He further said that earlier GPF account were maintained by the Heads of the respective department but now the same for Group A, B and C would be maintained by account maintaining officer. He also said that the GPF account for Group D would also be maintained at district wise or Category wise. Where GPF with nomination was available would be kept in the safe custody under the supervision of the concerned officers. Referring to the sanctioned amount of refundable of non-refundable advance, he said that concerned accounts officer should be intimated in time.
